Moldova's Ukrainians won't be able to vote unless included in main voter roll

Ukrainian citizens living in Moldova won't be able to cast votes in the parliamentary elections on October 28 if their names are not included in the main voter roll, as there won't be any supplementary lists. The announcement was made by Ukraine's Ambassador Serhii Pyrozhkov at a news conference on Thursday. There will be two polling stations opened in Moldova at which Ukrainians will be able to vote. One will be hosted by the Ukrainian Embassy in Chisinau and the other by the Consulate in Balti. The stations will work from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The Ambassador said that no polling stations will be opened in the Transnistrian region, but, following discussions with the authorities in Chisinau, he assured that there will be no impediments for the Ukrainians residing in the eastern districts to come and cast votes on the western side of the Nistru. Furthermore, transportation will be arranged for these voters. There are about 53,000 eligible voters registered on the voter roll in Chisinau and 18,000 others in Balti. Serhii Pyrozhkov also said that over 500 observers from 27 countries will monitor these elections, including 6 observers from Moldova, 3 of whom are MPs.
