Moldova’s U-19 beaten in European Championship Elite Round
Moldova’s national Under-19 football team suffered a 0-4 defeat in the European Championship Elite Round. Sergiu Cleshchenko’s squad were beaten by Norway in the first match of the mini-tournament played in Sarpsborg on April 28, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The balance was disturbed in the 29th minute, when Moldova’s Eugeniu Golovko was sent off. Immediately afterward, Norway’s Mushaga Bakenga scored from a penalty kick. Not long after, Yann-Erik de Lanlay scored another goal. At the start of the second half, Bakenga scored two more goals.
After the game, Norway manager Bard Flovik said his pupils could have scored more goals, but missed a number of chances.
In the other match of the group, Serbia lost dramatically to Wales 3-2.
On April 30, Serbia meet Moldova, while Wales – Norway. The group winner qualifies for the European Championship final that will take place in Romania between July 20 and August 1.
