Moldova’s tennis squad will meet Portugal’s team in the world team championship “Davis Cup by BNP Paribas”. The matches will take place at the end of this week. The president of the Moldovan Football Federation Marina Tauber told a news conference that the last preparations for the competitions were finished, IPN reports.
Moldova will be represented by Radu Albot, Maxim Dubarenko, Roman Borvanov, Andrei Ciumac and team captain Iurie Gorban, while Portugal by Joao Souza, Gastao Elias, Pedro Sousa, Rui Machado and captain Pedro Cordeiro.
The matches will be played at the Athletics Complex in Chisinau between September 13 and 15. Marina Tauber said that the representative of the International Tennis Federation Tom Kinloch already arrived in Moldova and he is satisfied with the quality of the sports ground.
Marina Tauber informed that the draw will be held on September 12, while on September 14 there will be staged a masterclass that will involve professional and amateur tennis players and the representative of the International Tennis Federation.
The ceremony to open the competition will take place on September 13. Afterward, there will be played two simple matches. On September 14, there will be held a double match, while on September 15 there will be played another two simple games. The matches will be broadcast live on the public TV channel and online.
