The fact that President Igor Dodon obtained the status of observer at the Eurasian Economic Union for the Republic of Moldova is an enormous economic and strategic plus for the country’s development, stated Socialist MP Adrian Lebedinski. According to him, President Igor Dodon is one of the high-ranking officials who has relations with the Russian Federation and with other states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, IPN reports.
“The fact that the people can work in Russia and send money home for their families is due to Igor Dodon. If he hadn’t been so active and insistent in maintaining these relations, we would have terminated the ties with our strategic partners long ago,” the MP stated in the talk show “Direct access” on NTV Moldova channel.
Adrian Lebedinski said Igor Dodon also gave a speech at the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and had a number of informal meetings with all the leaders of the CIS states. “This helps the Republic of Moldova enter new markets, establish new inter-personal relations,” stated the MP, noting the states become friends namely as a result of such friendship relations.
Adviser to the President of Moldova on education, research and culture Corneliu Popovici said Igor Dodon took part in the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in a move to put into practice the idea of balanced foreign policy that he has promoted for two years. “This principle of balanced foreign policy means we should be present there where the Republic of Moldova has interests,” stated the adviser.
President Igor Dodon took part in the extended meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in St Petersburg. Moldova participated in this as an observer for the first time.
