Moldova and its citizens deserve more, Democratic Party leader Dumitru Diacov told a news conference Wednesday. According to the parliamentarian, his party commits, if part of the future power, “to make all its best to enhance the living standard of each citizen, without lying to society,” Info-Prim Neo reports. “Moldova's economic and financial activity is insured not by the present rulers, but by the citizens working abroad. Due to those people, some $2 billion annually come to the country and not to the so-called technocrat ministers, which keep polishing the Marxist-Leninist image of the rulers,” the PDM leader stated. The present power is not able to realize their own policies of economic rehabilitation, neither to capitalize on the work and efforts of citizens, Dumitru Diacov said. “In 2000, when the Communists sabotaged all the projects of the Democrats to get the country out of impasse, preparing to come to power, the remittances were but $100 million. Now this figure amounts to $2 billion,” the MP added. “The economic stagnation causes unemployment and layoffs. In 2008, the number of employed dropped 250,000, compared to 2001, from 1,600 thousand to 1,350 thousand,” he said. “In addition to better schools, hospitals, salaries and pensions to insure a decent living, independent and non-corrupt judiciary, Moldova deserves to occupy its place in the family of European countries,” said the PDM deputy president, Oazu Nantoi. MP Valentina Buliga, the leader of the PDM's women organization, has stated that the party will start new reforms for a better life, so that the elderly have an insured elderliness, and the children – a happy future.
