Moldova’s representatives at Eurovision awarded “Diplomatic Merit” medal

The band “Zdob și Zdub” and the Advahov Brothers who represented the Republic of Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest this year were awarded the “Diplomatic Merit” medal of class III.  The awards were handed over by Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minster of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, IPN reports.

“We transmitted to the artists our appreciation and admiration for their excellent performance at the contest. Millions of Europeans sang and danced to the folklore and rock’n’roll rhythms of the song “Little Train”. We assured that artistic team that the Ministry, in cooperation with the national institutions and the embassies of our country abroad, will pay special attention to the popularization of the culture and artists of Moldova,” said the minister.



“For our country, cultural diplomacy is an efficient instrument for promoting our values and identity, while the band “Zdob și Zdub” and the Advahov Borthers, by their excellent performance, showed that they are real ambassadors of our culture.”

Moldova’s representatives ranked seventh with 253 points: 14 from the jury and 239 from the public. The Ukrainian group Kalush Orchestra won the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song “Stefania” and a score of 631 points, 439 of which came from the public.
