The head of the homebuilding administration division of the state-run company “Moldova’s Railways” was arrested on charges of appropriation and falsification of public documents. The preliminary investigation results show the functionary tried to come into possession of an apartment to the value of 300,000 lei that belonged to the company by falsifying a number of documents, IPN reports.

According to the National Anticorruption Center, the collected evidence shows that to obtain the apartment located at 12 Negrestei St in Chisinau, the suspect presented a number of false documents to the economy and property relations division of the Chisinau Municipal Council.

The functionary was placed under arrest for 72 hours. He faces 8 to 15 years behind bars for appropriation and falsification of public documents.
