Moldova’s Post Office launches Rapid Courier service

Moldova’s Post Office has launched the Rapid Courier service by which parcels will be delivered during three hours. The parcels can contain food products to building materials. The price of the service depends on the weight of the parcel and the distance up to the destination. On average, a parcel weighing less than 2 kg will cost 39 lei. Now the service is available only in Chisinau, but will be extended by this yearend, IPN reports.

Director general of Moldova’s Post Office Ludmila Corceac told a news conference that Chisinau was divided into three areas that will be served by 5 couriers. Orders can be placed on the phone number (022) 55 55 59 or by the email curier@cost.md. The operator will receive the order and will transmit it to the courier. When the parcel is delivered, the applicant will receive a check that will confirm the order. From next year, the service will cover the entire country. Every postal center will have by a special vehicle for transporting parcels.

Attending the event, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology Vitalie Ciolac said that Chisinau is monopolized by courier services. By launching this service, Moldova’s Post Office will contribute to popularizing the service in rural areas. The service was implemented at a cost of €80,000.
