Moldova’s Plastic Arts Show ‘too traditional’ and thus uninteresting

Moldova’s Plastic Arts Show became ‘too traditional’ and cannot hold interest for the people of arts who would like to take part in this contest-exhibition, while the prizes for winners are paltry. The jury’s head Mihai Tarus said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo, that a new strategy is needed to promote this event. Emphasis should be laid on the value, not on attracting winning works free of charge, considers museographer Tudor Zbarnea. “We cannot offer a prize of US$200 for works that are worth thousands. We must stop either giving derisory prizes or donating the winning works. This is probably the main reason why this contest attracts so few participants,” said Tudor Zbarnea. The lack of interest in Moldova’s Plastic Arts Show is also due to the disinterest in arts, consider the people of culture. The 20th Moldova’s Plastic Arts Show that lasted from August 31 until September 19 brought together over 300 artists from Romania and Moldova. They exhibited 420 works of art, including paintings, sculptures and photographs. Seven prizes have been awarded at the contest this year.
