Moldova’s peaceful reintegration can be supported by Western partners, expert

The assembly of over 30 ministers of foreign affairs on the sidelines of the Moldova Support Platform meeting that will be held in Chisinau in October would be a good occasion for the Moldovan authorities to ask for more support for the political and peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, said Romanian expert Mihai Isac.

“The recent events in Nagorno-Karabakh showed that these regions are a permanent tension point used by the Russian Federation to control these regions. The peaceful reintegration of the Republic of Moldova can be supported by the Western partners also by providing particular sums of money for the reconstruction of that part of the country and for the creation of new economic opportunities,” Mihai Isac stated in the program “Day by Day” on Radio Moldova station, IPN reports.

According to him, the Western partners’ support grows constantly, is maintained and the Moldovan authorities should directly ask for support at general level and at individual level.

Representatives of over 30 countries and international organizations will take part in the fourth meeting of the Moldova Support Platform that will take place in Chisinau on October 17. In the event, there will be analyzed the assistance needs of Moldova and the creation of two funds – one for the development of infrastructure and another one for ensuring energy independence.
