Moldova’s Pasha Parfeni goes to conquer Azerbaijan first

Singer Pasha Parfeni, who will represent Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, left for Baku on May 13 to get ready for the first semifinal that will take place on May 22. The next days, he will have a promotion tour in Azerbaijan. He will perform his song “Lautar” (“The Fiddler”) in the Azeri language as well, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a meeting with Prime Minister Vlad Filat before departure, the singer said that so far he held a number of promotion concerts in Moldova, Romania, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Ukraine. He stressed that the show for his song is ready and expressed his confidence that Moldova will go through to the final and will achieve a good result. For his part, the Premier assured Pasha Parfeni that he will enjoy all the necessary support on the part of the Government and from him personally for his participation in this prestigious contest. “We hope that we managed to improve Moldova’s image in Europe during a year and the Moldovans who are abroad will be united in supporting your performance. Besides diplomacy, the sports and culture are the best emissaries of the country. I’m sure that Moldova will be represented at this contest in the best way and with dignity,” said Vlad Filat. In the first semifinal, Moldova’s representative will perform the 17th. The Eurovision final will be held on May 26. Moldova will take part in Eurovision Song Contest for the eighth consecutive time. The band that represented Moldova last year – “Zdob si Zdub” – ranked 12th. Moldova’s best result at this contest was the sixth position that was won in 2005 also by “Zdob si Zdub”.
