Moldova’s Parliament to host 90th Rose-Roth Seminar of NATO PA

The Parliament of Moldova will host the 90th Rose-Roth Seminar of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly entitled “The European future of the Republic of Moldova: regional context and internal challenges” on November 11-13, IPN reports.

According to the Parliament’s press service, the Rose-Roth Seminar of the NATO PA represents a forum of debates on topical security-related issues. The event brings together MPs from the NATO member and partner countries, government officials, representatives of international organizations, experts of the academic community and representatives of the NGO sector. The goal of the seminars, including the Rose-Roth one, staged annually by the NATO PA is to familiarize the lawmakers with key security and defense issues.

At the beginning of the seminar, welcoming messages will be delivered by Head of Parliament Andrian Candu and acting Prime Minister Gheorghe Brega. In the opening session, speeches will be given by the Vice President of the NATO Paolo Alli, Head of the Swiss Delegation to the NATO PA Hans Hess, acting Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Natalia Gherman, and ex-EU Commission for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Füle.

During the three days of debates, the participants will discuss the political and economic developments in Moldova, the relations between Moldova and NATO, strengthening of integrity and democratic control, the Moldovan-Russian relations, the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, the implications of the aggression against Ukraine on regional and global security, Eastern neighborhood and the relations with the EU after the annual Riga conference and the informational war in Eastern Europe.

Moldova became an associate member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in November 1994.
