The neutrality of the Republic of Moldova, which is enshrined in the Constitution, is not an element of décor and this should be defended by securing the borders. Moldova will do everything necessary to strengthen the national defense, public order and intelligence services systems, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu stated in a news conference given jointly with the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of Romania Ion-Marcel Ciolacu, who is in Chisinau on a visit, IPN reports.
Igor Grosu said the Republic of Moldova will host the joint meeting of the Parliaments of Moldova and Romania. Work will continue to be done in key areas in the European integration process. A bilateral working group will be created to ensure the crossborder traffic norms are met. “The Parliaments of the Republic of Moldova and Romania adopted the resolution of the Joint Commission for European Integration, which comes to support the Republic of Moldova’s entry into the European Union,” stated Igor Grosu.
For his part, Ion-Marcel Ciolacu said that borders should be secured indeed. “The borders are a beneficial thing for the whole Europe and this is an area in which Romania should become involved to a greater extent alongside the Republic of Moldova,” said the Romanian official, noting that Romania is a shield for Moldova.
“The Republic of Moldova goes through a period of transition for harmonizing the legislation of the Republic of Moldova and the European Union and it’s a pity not to work together on this legislation so as, without other stages, to step up the pace for the Republic of Moldova to become a fully-fledged member of the European Union.”
The President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of Romania Ion-Marcel Ciolacu is making a visit to Chisinau on the invitation of Speaker Igor Grosu. The visit includes meetings with President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Natalia Gavriliţa.
