The national football squad of Moldova has defeated San Marino 3-0 in the last match of the 2014 World Cup qualifying rounds played at home. The goals were scored by Viorel Frunza (55th minute) and Eugen Sidorenko (59th and 89th minutes), IPN reports.
The first half closed undecidedly and Moldova’s players were booed by the fans. After the pause, the match was livelier and the Moldovan footballers showed a nice game.
Goalkeeper Ilie Cebanu made his debut for the national squad. The son of the president of the Moldovan Football Federation had a good performance in the first half. Moldova beat San Marino, which is last in the FIFA rankings, the fourth time.
Moldova plays the next match against Montenegro in Podgorica on October 15. Moldova has eight points and is the last but one in the group. England and Ukraine will fight for the first place and direct qualification for the Brazil World Cup. Before this, on October 15 England meets Poland at the Wembley, while Ukraine plays San Marino.
