Moldova’s Lilia Fisikovici finishes 27th in Olympic marathon

Athlete Lilia Fisikovici has ranked 27th in the Olympic marathon in Rio. The 27 year old reached the finish line in 2 hours, 34 minutes and 5 seconds, beating her previous personal record by one minute, IPN reports.

Overall, 157 runners competed in the marathon, which was won by Kenya’s Jemima Jelagat. She finished in 2 hours, 24 minutes and 4 seconds. On August 21, Moldova will be represented in the men’s marathon by Roman Prodius.

Today, August 15, four other Moldovans will take a shot at Olympic glory: Serghei Tarnovschi in the 1000m canoe sprint event, Zalina Marghieva in the hammer throwing finals, Natalia Stratulat at discus throwing and Vladimir Letnicov in the triple jump contest.
