Moldova’s leadership confirms availability to involve into canceling movement restrictions for breakaway leaders within the EU area
The Moldovan leadership reiterates its availability to address the European Union the request to cancel the movement restrictions for representatives of the Tiraspol administration, provided the necessary conditions for the free movement of Moldovan officials between the Nistru’s banks are insured, including for the free movement of citizens and goods.
Such a statement was made by Reintegration Minister Vasily Sova at the reunion with the heads of diplomatic missions of EU countries, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, the USA and of the OSCE mission to Moldova. He notified the ambassadors on the recent developments in settling the Transnistrian conflict.
A press release, issued by the Ministry and quoted by Info-Prim Neo, specifies they tackled different aspects related to the agreements reached at the recent meeting between President Vladimir Voronin with Transnistria’s leader Igor Smirnov, including the measures of confidence building and the resumption of the talks in the 5+2 format.
According to the communiqué, the diplomats greeted the practical measures undertaken to promote the confidence-building measures and to resume the talks on settling the Transnistrian conflict. The international partners confirmed their availability to further support the efforts meant to identify an adequate solution to the Transnistrian conflict, including through implementing concrete projects concerning social-economic and humanitarian areas, meant to contribute to reintegrate the country.
