The European integration of Moldova will lead to the settlement of the Transnistrian dispute, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and Speaker Igor Corman said in the program “Replica” on Prime TV channel, IPN reports.

Iurie Leanca said he is sure that this conflict will disappear until the period of pre-accession to the EU as, after the Association Agreement is implemented and the application to join the EU is submitted, expectedly in the second half of 2015, the living conditions in Moldova will improve and the Transnistrians will no longer be dependent on the bonuses to pensions provided by Russia.

According to the Premier, the fact that Ukraine signed the economic part of the Association Agreement will significantly contribute to settling the Transnistrian conflict.

In the same connection, Head of Parliament Igor Corman said the liberalization of the visa regime led to a substantial rise in the number of Transnistrians who want to regain Moldovan nationally. On the other hand, improvements started to be felt in the economic sector. “It’s known that 35% of the production in Transnistria is exported to the right bank of the Nistru River, while another 35% to the European Union. The economic concessions offered by the Association Agreement will help reunify the two banks. I hope a day will soon come when the Transnistrian problem will not exist,” said the Speaker.

The two officials presented arguments concerning the benefits that Moldova will enjoy as a result of the integration into the EU. The Baltic States were given as an example. “A farmer in our country receives subsidies of about €15 per hectare, while in the Baltic Countries the subsidies are €180 per hectare and are to be increased to €300,” said Iurie Leanca.
