The EU ministers who came to Chisinau to take part in the third informal meeting of the Group for the European Action of Moldova said the integration into the EU is an attainable objective for Moldova. “The sooner Moldova implements the planned reforms, the quicker will this dream come true,” said European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Police Stefan Fule. ”The culture, history, tradition and language of the Moldovan citizens are very close to Europe’s,” Stefan Fule said. “If you hasten the reforms, the speed towards Europe will be higher.” Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Bakonski said the Moldovan people in the November parliamentary elections will not have to choose between Russia and Romania, but between the past and the future, between different styles of life, between prospects for democracy or for stagnation. Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Karel Schwarzenberg said only the forces that want to be integrated move towards Europe. According to him, the Communists Party that ruled for over eight years did not implement the promised reforms. “As far as I know, the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin wants an alliance with Russia, not the European countries,” said Karel Schwarzenberg, adding Europe will be happy to receive Moldova in its family. Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said Moldova is already a European state despite all the challenges faced and it should build its future at home. For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova Iurie Leanca said that owing to the concerted effort, Moldova follows a good path, the path to the EU.
