Moldova's Iaroslav Musinschi Wins Dusseldorf Marathon

Moldova's athlete Iaroslav Musinschi won the 8th edition of the METRO Group Duesseldorf Marathon with a course record of 2:08:32. The 33 year-old runner also established a Balkan and national record and Europe's 2010 lead, Info-Prim Neo reports. Musinschi was more than three and a half minutes ahead of Andrej Toptun of Ukraine and Pawel Ochal of Poland. The Moldovan athlete's result beat the three-year-old record set by Kenya's Bellor Yator and earned Musinschi a prize of €21,000. Even with his European leading performance, Iaroslav Musinschi will skip the marathon at the European Championships in Barcelona this summer to have enough time to prepare for the Frankfurt Marathon on October 31. The Dusseldorf event brought together a record number of 13,000 athletes, including 4,200 marathon runners.
