The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2018 was 190 billion lei in current market prices, up 4% on 2017 in real terms. Almost all the branches of the economy contributed to the GDP growth, IPN reports.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, retail and wholesale trade, maintaining and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, storage, accommodation activities and public health contributed 1.2% to the GDP growth, while the building sector 1.1%.
The extractive and processing industries, production and supply of electric power and heat, hot water and air conditioning, water distribution, cleanup and waste management and the decontamination activities contributed +0.7%, agriculture, forestry and fishing +0,2%, information and communications also +0.2%.
At the beginning of this year, the World Bank estimated that Moldova’s economy in 2019 will grow by 3.8%. Experts of the Independent Think Tank “Expert-Grup” anticipated a growth of 3.5% according to the pessimistic scenario and of 5.2% according to the optimistic scenario during the next few years.
