Moldova’s future President should be a politician, survey

Some 67% of the respondents of an opinion poll consider that Moldova’s future President must be a politician. Over 18% of the respondents believe this should be a technocrat. The data are contained in a sociopolitical survey carried out by the polling company Intellect Group, IPN reports.

The company’s president Ian Lisnevschi said the poll results look like this because the people are disappointed in the so-called technocrats and realize that any candidate should enjoy the support of a party.

The survey shows that for 47% of those polled the sex of the candidate for President does not matter. Over 39% of the respondents consider that this should be a man, while 9% think this should be a woman.

If the presidential elections were held next Sunday, over 23% of those surveyed would vote for Igor Dodon, about 16% - for Maia Sandu, over 9% - for Andrei Nastase, while 7% - for Vladimir Voronin. Fewer votes, in descending order, would be given to Marian Lupu, Iurie Leanca, Mihai Ghimpu, Alexandru Tanase, Andrei Popov, Sergiu Mocanu, and Valeriu Strelet. Over 18% of the respondents didn’t answer this question, 6% would not go to the polls, while 3% would vote for someone else.
