Moldova’s European course is definitive, Pro-European Coalition

Moldova chose the European course and this course will ensure a better future for all the country’s people. This was the message of the leaders of the parties of the government coalition that staged an assembly in support of Moldova’s European course in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau, IPN reports.

The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat said that Moldova witnessed both good and bad events in its history. But when it had the possibility of choosing, it chose well. “I think that my country chose well – a bright and safe future for our children and our country. I repeatedly said that we are Europeans and must fully benefit from the European rights and values. I want to send a message to Europe: Even if you do not want and do not love us – we want and love you!” he stated.

The head of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu said in his speech that time has come for Moldova to say ‘yes’ to welfare, while the road to the EU is the only one for Moldova. The integration into the EU means foreign investments, workplaces, respect for the rights of the national minorities, chances for the young people and rights for the pensioners. The European integration means good relations with other countries. “The European integration does not mean Moldova’s isolation from the rest of the world. On the contrary, it will become a more powerful bridge between the East and the West. Moldova’s House is and remains open and welcoming. We will maintain good relations with Ukraine and Romania, Russia and Kazakhstan,” said Lupu.

The leader of the group of Liberal reformers Ion Hadarca said the pro-European choice of Moldova is definitive and cannot be changed. “Our pro-European choice cannot be changed by drummers, embargos, grumblers or authors with Eurasian ideas. We chose to be Europeans and want to become fully-fledged members of the large European family. There are many shortcomings, but the confidence will help us to deal with them,” he said.

Thousands of people took part in the event in central Chisinau. The organizers said the participants came to over 60,000.
