Moldova’s entry into EU is supported by 36% of respondents

If a referendum on the entry into the European Union or the Eurasian Customs Union was held next Sunday, 36% of the Moldovans would vote for entry into the EU, while 42.2% for entry into the Eurasian Union. 9% would vote against both of the foreign policy courses, reveals a survey conducted by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova, IPN reports.

The data of a similar poll carried out last year show 38% of the respondents would vote for entry into the EU, while 41% for the Eurasian course.

Asked if they would support Moldova’s entry into NATO in a referendum, 61% of those polled said they would not, while 22.5% said they would vote in favor. 6.8% said they would not take part in the plebiscite.

The poll covered 1,181 persons from 79 communities of Moldova, except for the Transnistrian region. It was carried out this November by the face-to-face interviewing method. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3%.
