The 29th final of Moldova’s Football Cup takes place today at the Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau. Petrocub and Sfîntul Gheorghe will compete for their first trophy in history, IPN reports.
In the semifinals, Petrocub eliminated the current holder of the trophy Sheriff. “In the final, we have a worthy, organized opponent and the results confirm this. We are eager to score a victory. I hope the TV viewers will like the match and I hope we will go with our heads up after this game,” said the coach of Petrocub Lilian Popescu.
In the final of Moldova’s Cup last year, Sfîntul Gheorghe was beaten by Sheriff 0-1. “This is our second final and we will do our best to get the Cup, which is what we didn’t manage to do last year,” stated Sfîntul Gheorghe coach Sergey Cebotari.
The fans can encourage their favorites through Zoom. Five large screens were set up at the Zimbru Stadium, where the fans will appear during the match. The final game starts at 9am and is refereed by Amine Kourgheli of Belarus.
