Moldova's weight lifter Cristina Iovu won a silver and a bronze medal in the 48kg division at the Junior European Weightlifting Championship, taking place in the Albanian town of Duress, Info-Prim Neo reports. The young athlete managed to lift 89kg in snatch, ranking the second, and a total lift of 159 kg in clean and jerk, finishing the third. These are Moldova's first weightlifting medals ever won by a woman athlete. Cristina Iovu, 15, has been training for three years under the supervision of coach Maxim Cojocari. The Moldovan delegation to the Junior European Weightlifting Championship also includes male athletes Artiom Pipa (56kg), Alexandru Shpac (62kg), Alexandru Shatalenco (85kg) and Adrian Barca (77 kg).
