Moldova’s consul general in Turkey recalled

The Government recalled Moldova’s consul general in Turkey Veaceslav Filip, IPN reports. Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Tudor Ulianovschi, who presented the draft decision, provided no details.

Veaceslav Filip has worked in the diplomatic service since 1993. In November 2016, he was arrested at the Chisinau airport on suspicion that he accepted bribe for issuing Moldovan documents to persons of Arab origin who intended to migrate to Europe. Anticorruption prosecutors carried out searches at the council’s home and at other addresses. In October 2017, the case was sent to court.
