The Border Guard Service of Moldova will receive equipment worth EUR 730,000 in the framework of the EC-funded project BOMMOLUK, implemented by the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM). The technical assistance consists of optical binoculars, portable thermal imagers, computers, printers, servers, switches and software. 28 personal computers, 4 laser printers, 4 switches and 1 server were handed over on Wednesday, October 24, to the Border Guard Service of Moldova. This equipment will help improve the work of the Risk Analysis Department of the Border Guard Service. According to EUBAM, delivery of other technical assistance to the border guard and customs services of Moldova and Ukraine is in progress. BOMMOLUK project was launched in September 2006 with the aim to improve border management in Ukraine and Moldova. The overall BOMMOLUK budget amounts to EUR 9.9 million of which EUR 3.3 million have been released for the first stage that will run till November 2007. EUR 2.2 million of this sum have been spent for procurement of equipment for the border guard and customs services of Moldova and Ukraine.
