Moldova’s best young ballerina had 3 debuts in leading roles in 2010

2010 was a rich and special year for Lina Seveliova, dancer at the National Opera and Ballet Theater. The 20 year old had 3 debuts in leading roles, which, according to experts, requires a great amount of work and skill. The first one happened in March, when she performed Juliette in Sergei Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliette”. Lina Seveliova’s talent and flair impressed both critics and public. In October, she played the main character in Adophe Adam’s “Giselle”, while in December, she took Marie’s role in Piotr Tchaikovsky's “The Nutcracker”. Laria Casap, head of Theater’s Talent Department, told Info-Prim Neo that Lina Seveliova managed to prepare the 3 performances in a very short time, despite being in the ballet company for only 2 seasons. “She was a lovely Juliette”, Larisa Carp said, deeply impressed by ballerina’s ability to express feelings through dance. Lina Seveliova started practicing ballet when she was 9. Since then, she had many teachers to whom she is thankful for showing her the path to follow. Commitment and patience are her main virtues, enhanced by understanding, diligence and ambition. She currently has about 20 roles in Theater’s various productions. Moreover, together with her troupe, she represented Moldova in Belgium and Italy. She also worked with ballet companies from Ukraine, Poland and other countries. On December 30, Lina Seveliova and her colleague Anatoly Ustimov were named Best young dancers of 2010 during the Municipal Awards for Youth Gala. “The Nutcracker” will be staged at the National Opera and Ballet Theater on January 13 and 16, while Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliette” on January 30.
