Moldovans with vaccine certificates can enter Hungary without having to quarantine

Starting with June 1, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who have a national vaccine certificate can enter Hungary without needing to quarantine. Hungary is the first country with which the Republic of Moldova agreed to mutually recognize the national vaccine certificates following the efforts made by the diplomatic services of the two countries, including through the agency of their embassies in Budapest and Chisinau, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration said the efficient measures taken by the authorities of the two states will enable the vaccinated Moldovans and Hungarians to travel unrestrictedly to or through Hungary and the Republic of Moldova. This way, the two states will make sure that the citizens holding official vaccine certificates can freely enter or cross the Republic of Moldova and Hungary. Under the reached agreements, the children younger than 18, who will accompany the holders of such certificates, will enjoy the same entry and transition rights.

In this connection, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Aureliu Ciocoi transmitted a message to his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó, thanking the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary for the swiftness with which it dealt with Moldova’s request. He said this will enable to ensure the vaccinated Moldovans can travel without having to quarantine and do a test.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration also said that the recognition of vaccine certificates for facilitating the travel of Moldovan citizens is a priority on its agenda and negotiations are held with the foreign partners in cooperation with the national responsible institutions.
