Moldovans win 8 medals in Kickboxing World Championship
Moldovan kickboxers won three golden medals, two silver and three bronze ones at the World Kickboxing Championship in Madrid. The event unfolded from June 22 through 27, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We made true our dream of becoming champions. Out of those 400 participants from over 30 countries, the Moldovans proved to be the best in the kickboxing art,” said Tudor Gorea, the president of the Moldovan Federation of Oriental Kickboxing, at a news conference on July 8.
“Although the fights were harsh, all the participants managed to successfully pass through 3-4 fights in the ring,” Tudor Gorea added.
According to the master of the box, kickboxing and wrestling school, Ion Bogdan, the Moldovan sportsmen scored a big success at the world level. “It's wonderful to go there with 9 sportsmen, kids from the country-side, and they performed among big sportsmen from Italy, Spain, Ukraine, Russia,” Ion Bogdan said.
Kickboxing trainer Eugeniu Musalimov won the gold medal, and says it was rather difficult to face such confrontations. “When you train, you're not scrutinized, nobody tells you about your mistakes.”
The speakers say the European Kickboxing Championship may be held in Moldova this year, the president of the world federation decided. The sports specialists say it's possible, but fear money problems.
