Moldovans will travel visa-free in EU starting on April 28

The regulations concerning the abolition of the visa requirements for Moldovans will be signed by the Presidents of the European Parliament and the European Council on April 3 and will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union on April 8. According to the procedure, the decision takes effect 20 days after it is published. Thus, April 28 is the first day when the Moldovan citizens can travel to the EU visa-free, MEP Monica Macovei said, quoted by IPN.

“This decision is an accomplished dream for Moldova, which enables its citizens to travel in the EU member states without visas,” Monica Macovei said in a press statement. She noted that when the visa regime is liberalized, those who travel in the EU will be able to receive work permits if they get a job. The relatives of those who work in the EU countries will be able to visit them without needing visas.

The Moldovans holding a biometric passport will travel to 26 EU member states, not yet to the UK.
