Moldovans will save €9m after visa-free regime is instituted with Turkey

After the liberalization of the visa regime between Moldova and Turkey, the Moldovan citizens will save about €9 million on the legalization of the documents required for obtaining visas. The Parliament’s commission on social protection, health and family voted in favor of ratifying the agreement by the legislative body on January 30, Info-Prim Neo reports. Under the intergovernmental agreement signed by the two parties in November 2012, a visa-free regime will be instituted for the Moldovan and Turkish citizens for a period of stay that will not exceed 90 days within six months of the first entry. The citizens who will want to remain in the other country after the expiry of the 90-day period will have to get a visa. According to official data, about 100,000 Moldovans travel to Turkey yearly, while 15,000 Turkish citizens travel to Moldova. The visa liberalization agreement with Turkey was discussed with the EU and will come into force after it is ratified by the legislatures of the two states.
