Moldovans who work legally in Germany can apply for pension

The citizens of the Republic of Moldova who work legally in Germany can apply for a pension. The agreement on social security between the Republic of Moldova and the Federal Republic of Germany, which takes effect today, March 1, stipulates the conditions for setting an old-age, disability or successor’s pension and the disability pension and allowance if the disability was caused by workplace accidents in both of the states, IPN reports, quoting a press release issued by the National House of Social Insurance.

Under the agreement, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, who worked legally and paid social insurance contributions in Germany, when reaching the retirement age stipulated by the legislation of this state, will be provided pension that will be transferred to the bank account opened in the Republic of Moldova. Similar social security measures apply to Moldovans who settled in Germany on a permanent basis and who have an insurance period in Moldova as well.

Each signatory state pays the part of the pension calculated for the insurance period recorded on its territory. The citizens of the Republic of Moldova who now benefit from a pension in Moldova and who meanwhile settled in Germany on a permanent basis can receive the pension from Moldova to a bank account opened in Germany. For the purpose, they should submit an application to which bank details are attached to the National House of Social Insurance or the similar authority of Germany. Each December, the recipient of pension who settled in Germany should present a certificate confirming this is alive to the National House of Social Insurance.

To benefit from a pension provided in accordance with Moldova’s legislation, the applicant should file an application to the National House of Social Insurance or the similar authority of Germany, annexing a set of documents.
