Moldovans who returned home from abroad express their dissatisfaction with state of affairs in the country

Dumitru Pogorea, who returned to Moldova after staying in the Russian Federation for 30 years, said that the Moldovans abroad are dissatisfied with the government’s performance, with the fact that many of the electoral promises to create conditions for the return home weren’t delivered. In a news conference hosted by IPN, Dumitru Pogorea said the situation in the county only worsened and forces many compatriots to look for a better life in other states.

Dumitru Pogorea noted that the mayor’s office in the country turned into ‘local dictatorship bodies’. He complained that he wanted to organize a general assembly in his native village, but the mayor’s office opposed and influence the people not to take part. As a councilor, he insisted on forming a commission to examine the local water pipe as he identified irregularities, but didn’t enjoy support and things remained uncertain.

Dumitru Pogorea stated that the situation in education is also bad. The school focuses on teaching, on the presentation of information only. No progress has been also made in healthcare. When the members of his family needed qualified medical assistance, they could not find it at home and had to consult doctors outside the country.

As to the judicial system, Dumitru Pogorea said it seems that the initiated processes are aimed not at changing the state of affairs, but at growing “pocket judges”. For many years, he has been in litigation and hasn’t yet seen an end result.

In the same news conference, Viorica Malai, who also returned from the Russian Federation, complained that she could not register her children at a Romanian language lyceum for the reason that there were no available places there. She ultimately had to take her children to a Russian language lyceum where she was treated much more respectfully. She regrets that unlike the educational institutions in Russia, the similar institutions in Moldova do not pay enough attention to patriotic education and do not cultivate love for the country in children.

Viorica Malai noted that national traditions are forgotten and the people borrow Western holidays, such as Halloween and Saint Valente’s Day, but not many know the holidays typical of our nation.
