Moldovans who return home will not pay import duties on cars and personal belongings

President Maia Sandu submitted to Parliament a legislative proposal to provide fiscal and customs concessions to the Moldovan citizens who decide to return to Moldova to live here, IPN reports.

The bill provides for exemption from import duties on personal belongings and a unit of transport brought into Moldova. This applies to persons who had been outside the country for at least 36 months during the past 48 months. To benefit from concessions, the citizens will file an application accompanied by confirming documents, it is said in a press release.

Maia Sandu noted that the return home of the citizens should be simple and should not imply costs. “We launched a complex country transformation process and, to succeed, the Republic of Moldova needs people. We are determined to improve the living conditions at home and to create jobs so that our citizens build the future here. Together, with professionals and hardworking people, we will be able to change Moldova to the better and to transform it into a palace in which we want to live and to which we want to return,” stated President Sandu.
