The new loans provided this May came to 4.120,2 billion lei, an increase of 24.5% on last May. Consumer loans represented 69.5% of the loans raised by private individuals, IPN reports.
According to the National Bank of Moldova, the loans repayable in two to five years constituted 52.1% of all the loans. Such loans taken out by legal entities represented 37.2% of all the loans.
60.7% of all the loans were loans raised in national currency, which came to 2.501,3 billion lei. 35.8% were loans in foreign currencies, which, recalculated in Moldovan lei, added up to 1.473,9 billion lei. The loans dependent on the exchange rate of the currently represented 3.5%, totaling 145.1 million lei.
The nominal average interest rate on new loans provided in national currency was 10.55%, on loans in foreign currencies – 3.96%, on loans dependent on the exchange rate of the currency – 3.84%. Compared with the corresponding period last year, the nominal weighted average interest rate on loans provided in national currency rose by 3.47 percentage points, on those in foreign currencies decreased by 0.08 percentage points, while on those dependent on the exchange rate of the currency declined by 0.55 percentage points.
In the period, the new term deposits totaled 3.117,3 billion lei, up 52.3% on May 2021. The deposits attracted in national currency came to 2.366,8 billion lei, while those attracted in foreign currencies, recalculated in Moldovan lei, added up to 750.5 million lei.
The deposits placed for a period of six to 12 months constituted 53.1% of all the attracted term deposits. Such deposits made by private individuals represented 45% of all the deposits.
