Our country is poor because it is administered by corrupt and inexpert leaders. This is the opinion of 57% of the respondents of the Social Politic Barometer conducted by IMAS-INC, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the poll, 19% of those questioned said that poverty is due to the lack of natural resources, 7% said it was inherited, while 6% consider it is due to indolence. 1% of the respondents said that Moldova is poor because it is exploited by Russia. 1% said it is exploited by the West, while 7% could not say what the reason for poverty is. 45% of those surveyed said they live in poor conditions because the Government does not adequately help them, 20% because they are not given chances, 12% because they do not have professional training, while 6% blamed poverty on bad luck. Half of the respondents consider that corruption and theft are the major methods for making a fortune in Moldova. 18% said this about supported work, while 11% think that wealth is obtained by knowledge. About 7% of those polled consider that a person can become rich if they are educated and intelligent, while 6% said you can become rich only if you have luck. 9% of the respondents could not say how one could get rich. The survey was carried out during November 27-December 7 and covered a sample of 1,123 people from 71 locations throughout Moldova. The margin of sampling error is 3%.
