Moldovans shouldn’t worry about Romanian citizenships, Ponta

Romanian Premier Victor Ponta that Moldovans should not be worry about not being able to obtain Romanian citizenship after Nicolate Eucarie’s discharge from her lead position at the National Authority on Citizenships. Moreover, the Prime Minister stated that, through several amendments, he aims at even better implementation of the special Law on Moldovan citizens, which give Moldovans special advantages in obtaining Romanian citizenship, reports Info-Prim Neo. “I want this Law to function and be applied to a greater extent. It is our historic duty to offer Romanian citizenship to Moldovans. I am a supporter of the idea that, regardless of diverging opinions and discontent at the European level, we have this duty. Political preferences change, yet Romania and Moldova will stay the same, as they were for hundreds of years, united through a special bond”, said Victor Ponta, when asked if he had changed the leadership of the National Authority on Citizenships in order to punish Moldovans for being supporters of Traian Basescu. For several weeks the National Authority on Citizenships did not order any orders regarding the issuance of Romanian citizenships for Moldovans. Recently, Victor Ponta discharged Nicolate Eucarie and in her stead appointed Gheorghe Emacu, former State secretary at the Ministry of Administration and Internal Affairs, during the governing of Boc and Ungureanu.
