Three buses with Moldovan citizens returning from the Russian Federation arrived at the Cahul-Oancea border crossing point on the night of November 2. Sources from the Customs Service and the Border Police told IPN that there were about 150 people on the three buses, who traveled free of charge by plane from Moscow to Istanbul and from there they continued their journey by bus.

The same sources said that in Istanbul, the passengers brought free of charge by plane from the Russian Federation were met by three buses with Moldovan license numbers, which headed for Bulgaria. There, the passengers were transferred to three other buses, belonging to a Bulgarian company, with which they arrived at the Cahul-Oancea border crossing point.

Following discussions with the passengers, the customs officers found out that these did not pay for either the flight or the bus trip. In the Russian Federation, they were informed that transport is organized free of charge for citizens who want to return home to vote in the runoff presidential election on November 3.
