On Low Sunday, Eastern Church Christians celebrate Memorial Easter, a holyday to remember dead relative and friends. The first Monday of the second week after Easter is also dedicated to remembrance of the dead and is called Monday of the Dead, or Easter of the Dead, or Little Easter. On Memorial Sunday and Monday, believers pay homage to dead relatives at graves and say prayers. This way, people imagine that they spent Easter with their dead ancestors, as their spirits return. The tradition is observed in the cemeteries of Chisinau as well, where hundreds of persons are gathering at cemeteries, the most of them at “St. Lazar” Cemetery located on Doina Street, and the Central Cemetery on Armeneasca Street.
