Moldovans not interested in scholarships to Vietnam and Singapore

No Moldovan youth chose to study in Vietnam or Singapore even if these countries offered scholarships. It’s the third year when Vietnam offers scholarships that are not demanded, Info-Prim Neo learned from Marcelina Russu, senior consultant at the division of international relations and European integration of the Ministry of Education. Overall, 5300 scholarships abroad were offered to Moldovan youth. Most Moldovans choose to study in Romania, which offered the most scholarships- 5000. Most of the youth will study at the Vasile Alecsandri University in Bacau, the University in Petrosani and the Lucian Blaga University in Sibiu. Social sciences were among the most popular choices, alongside business administration and law. Specializations like language and literature, computers and information technology, civil engineering, electronic engineering and telecommunications, mechanics and robotics. Meanwhile, cinematography and media, psychology, geology and forest engineering were the least demanded specializations, with only 1-2 applicants. Russia offered 76 scholarships and the main preferences were political sciences, information and technology systems, philosophy, arts and culture. The least popular were journalism, pedagogy and social work. Ukraine offered 108 scholarships, 94 of which for ethnic Ukrainians. The most exotic destinations were China, which offered 5 scholarships and Mexico with 2 scholarships. The Ministry of Education stressed that some applications are made directly and are not included in the statistics.
