Moldovans in Italy are the most active among overseas voters
Over 2,700 Moldovan citizens voted at the two polling places set up in the Italian towns of Rome and Bologna by 16.00 local time, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Dumitru Bicec, secretary of the Chisinau Electoral Council, said that 817 Moldovans voted in France, as against only 782 in Russia. “According to our information, there are about 5,000 eligible Moldovan voters in Russia,” Bicec said. Also, 237 voters cast their ballots at the two polling places in Gemany – in Berlin and Frankfurt.
The lowest turnout abroad was in Lithuania, where only 13 Moldovans of the 200 written in the lists marked their ballots. Twenty voters took part in the election in China.
The electoral lists of the 33 polling stations opened abroad include about 20,000 voters.
Dumitru Bicec said that no serious incidents were reported at the overseas polling places, except a case in Brussels, where a group of four persons came to vote with identity cards without having entry and exit permits.
