Moldovans from abroad are ‘hungry’ for information, statement

The Moldovans who settled abroad lack information. Efrosinia Gastemulte, a representative of the Moldovan diaspora in Russia, said that the Moldovans are ‘hungry’ for information, especially juridical one, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the fifth Congress of the diaspora in Chisinau, Efrosinia Gastemulte said that the Moldovans from Russia do not know such elementary information as the rules of stay and work in this country. Those who break them face fines of €50-100 and expulsion without being able to return to Russia for five years. The Russian authorities now even propose criminal punishment for the illegal stay on the federation’s territory. In this connection, the representatives of the Moldovan diaspora in Russia launched an awareness-raising campaign. They distribute leaflets, especially in trains, while the law service of the Congress of the Moldovan diaspora in Russia provides expert advice to hundreds of persons daily. “The violation of the rules of stay in Russia affects especially the women and children. The pregnant women do not benefit from appropriate medical care, while the children of preschool age cannot go to kindergarten. We set up a committee of mothers and organize meetings with representatives of the official bodies of Russia so as to solve certain problems. We distribute leaflets with information about what a mother who came to Russia with the child can do and what a pregnant woman can do,” stated Efrosinia Gastemulte. According to the data of the diaspora, 225,000 Moldovans were in Russia in 2010, while in 2011 – 430,000. The Moldovans go to work to Russia because they do not need visas. The Congress of the Moldovan diaspora in Russia drafted a bill to constitute a Moldovan-Russian consultative council and submitted it to the administration of the Russian president. The council will include experts and people of culture from both of the countries. An encyclopedia titled “The pride of the Republic of Moldova” will be issued soon. It is about persons of culture from Moldova who settled in Russia and can influence the public opinion.
