A man aged 41 was arrested in a case concerning the recruitment of Moldovan citizens to be forced to work in the Russian Federation. He faces a maximum jail term of 15 years, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, on the pretext of hiring persons for performing agricultural works, the suspects organized the transportation of victims to the Russian Federation and later confiscated their papers and forced them to work. Made to repay an alleged debt, the persons worked for even eight months without pay.
The police are cooperating with the Russian law enforcement agencies in the investigation of this case.
The police recommend the persons who intend to go abroad to work to obtain more information about the people and companies with which they intend to work and not to leave their passports with unknown persons and to inform reliable persons about the itinerary of their trip, accommodation places and contact data.
