Moldovans expatriated from Gaza get to Moldova

The 13 Moldovan citizens repatriated from Gaza reached the Republic of Moldova. The three grownups and ten children were crossing the border through the Parlance frontier post, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration said the repatriation operation via Egypt was launched after the given citizens sought help from the Embassy in the Republic of Moldova in Tel Aviv. The Ministry’s cell crisis coordinated the operation together with Moldova’s Embassies in Tel-Aviv, Ankara and Kiev and the consular office in Odessa.

The evacuated citizens were transported up to Cairo with health insurance, food and basic necessities, in cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine in Egypt. On the Rafah – Cairo route, the security of the Moldovan and Ukrainian citizens was ensured with the assistance of the Egyptian authorities.

The cell crisis initially compiled a list of 31 persons who expressed their readiness to return home and 150,000 lei was allocated from the Intervention Fund for the evacuation operation. The Embassy in Tel-Aviv is permanently in touch with the Moldovan citizens who didn’t want to leave Gaza as part of this operation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration recommends the citizens who are in the area and who haven’t yet registered their presence to contact the Embassy and inform it about their place of stay so that they could benefit from the authorities’ assistance in an eventual emergency.
