Georg Linder was the last representative of Moldova to compete in the Sochi Winter Olympics. But the naturalized Austrian didn’t finish the Super Slalom Giant race, IPN reports.
Before the contest, the national Olympic squad’s coach Petru Bria voiced hope that Linder will finish this race at least among the first 30. Kjetil Jansrud of Norway came first, followed by Andrew Weibrecht from the U.S.
The other members of the national team also had poor performances in Sochi. Alexandra Kamenshchik ranked 71st out of 76 competitors in cross-country skiing 10 km and 84th in biathlon. Bogdan Macovei finished 36th of 39 contenders in sledding, while Victor Pinzaru came 77th of 85 participants in sprint skiing.
Biathlete Natalia Levchenkova achieved the best result at the Winter Olympics among Moldovans. The Russian-born athlete finished eighth at the 2006 Torino Olympic Games.
