Most of the Moldovans have a critical attitude as regards the situation in the country. According to a recently presented survey, every second respondent (51%) considers that the things in Moldova go in the wrong direction and only 23% said the things go in the right direction. The others could not give an answer, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the survey “Vox Populi – 2008”, 19% of those polled consider that the economic situation has worsened in the past few years, while 20% said it has worsened considerably. At the same time, 29% of the respondents consider that the economic situation has improved and only 3% said that it has improved significantly. Seven respondents of ten said that the rise in the prices of goods and energy resources is a problem for them. 52% of those surveyed said that this is their most serious problem. The largest number of respondents (83%) are dissatisfied with the incomes they earn. Out of these, 39% are very dissatisfied. Only 14% are satisfied with the means they have, the poll shows. On the other hand, a considerable number of respondents (37%) cannot say whether they are satisfied or not with their way of life. However, 39% are not satisfied with their living conditions and only approximately each fourth person is more or less satisfied with the living. Though unsatisfied with the way of life, the Moldovans hope that the situation will improve the next year. 28% of the respondents consider that in two years their families will live better, while 4% - much better. Only 8% of those questioned consider that their families will live worse, while 4% - much worse. Those that believe in a better living are mainly young persons and persons with higher education. The opinion poll presented on September 22 was carried out by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova. It covered a representative sample of 1,586 adult respondents from 88 settlements, except for the Transnistrian region. The margin of sampling error is 2.6%.
