The Romanian police detained five Moldovan citizens who were smuggling stomatological equipment into Romania, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the electronic publication SeverPress. The Vaslui Border Police Inspectorate obtained information about this group that started work in April 2009. It was established that the Moldovans purchased the goods in Moldova and transported them to Romania hidden in baggage or on the basis of forged documents. The goods were stored in Brasov county and then sold illegally to dental offices in Brasov and Sacele towns. On August 10, four members of the group were caught in the act of trying to illicitly sell dental equipment and products made in Ukraine to surgery offices. Later, the police found packets containing dental equipment and metal alloy for teeth without documents of origin stored by the culprits in Moeciu de Jos settlement in Brasov county. The goods were valued at about 650,000 RON (approximately 154,100 euros). Prosecutors of the Vaslui Zonal Office are investigating the five Moldovan citizens for smuggling and for creating an organized criminal group.
