The border police discovered 300 parrots in a vehicle with Cimislia license numbers stopped at the entrance to Palanca village, near the Moldovan-Ukrainian border, for a check in the evening of March 4. There were two Moldovans aged 22 and 40 in the vehicle. The parrots of the species Perus were found in the trunk, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Border Police, the men could not present the necessary accompanying documents. One occupant of the vehicle said the birds were bought in the Ukrainian town Nicolaev.
Until all the circumstances are determined, the persons who brought the birds into the country will be unable to sell them. If they broke the law, they will be fined 6,000 lei.
