Moldovans caught attempting to cross Prut with Islamic objects and literature

Two young men were arrested by the border police when they tried to illegally reach Romania with Islamic objects and books propagating the Islamic ideology on them, IPN reports.

It happened in the area managed by the Toceni Border Police Sector on November 17. The border inspectors saw two persons heading for the Prut. They intervened when they realized that the men wanted to illegally cross the state border.

The arrested Moldovans aged 19 and 26 and are both from Cahul district. They were earlier tried, one of them being convicted of murder. When this served time in jail, he was converted to Islam.

The border policemen found Islamic objects and literature on them as well as notes showing that the two intended to cross a number of European states to reach the final destination - France.
